It is situated in the Westside of Los Angeles. Expresion Oaxaquena started in the year 2001. Its foundation was built over a 5 year long adventure. It first started only as a tortilleria which is spanish for a location that focuses on making tortillas. Tortillas sales were not going so well so other tactics had to be implemented in order to expand. The owner Mr. Ceferino underwent long campaings of publicity by going store to store offering his tortillas, ads in the newspaper and commercials in the radio. A more arduous task was taken and that was learning how to make tortillas in an even more traditional manner and that is by hand. Once this better quality tortillas was being made, the business went up so much that the had to expand their location by purchasing surrounding spaces. Upon expanding, Expresion Oaxaquena needed to expand their horizons so they decided to become something more than just a tortilleria; this is when tortilleria decided to take path of becoming a traditional Oaxaqueno restaurant.
