Goyita's

Jose Meza is the owner and president of Goyita’s. He and his family come from the small town of Silver City, New Mexico. Jose had a rough start to his career, he was laid off from the mines and was going through a divorce. He went to his mother, nicknamed Goyita, and asked if she would want to start a restaurant together. Their family has been passing down their recipes throughout three generations. He describes the style of cooking as scratch cooking that will remind you of your grandmother’s. 

Located on 10420 N La Canada Drive in Oro Valley, Goyita’s has been in business since 2016. Jose Meza described the location as always having been different Mexican restaurants for the last 25 years. The last restaurant was one named Carlotta’s by which he took over their lease. Goyita’s uses a New Mexico style of cooking, with a specialty in hatch chiles. Jose Meza works with a portion of his family together in the restaurant, there is his mother and father, sister, sister-in law, niece and two brothers.
